What may be some consequences of using coilovers with the factory struts?
I just put some coilovers in my civic 01 with the factory struts because when I bough the car the springs were cut off; but now every time I hit a whole while driving it sounds very hard. Someone told me that the struts where done or may not resist the coilovers and that may be weird sound, but I just want to make sure. THANKS FOR HELP

You will eventually blow the stock struts with your stiff coilovers. people are idiots
uh……..you shouldn’t have been able to
coilovers are a spring/shock package……the COIL is OVER the shock and are sold as one unit
if you put aftermarket springs on your civic thats one thing.
did they have a drop on them? if it sounds “hard” as you say then the springs might not be strong enough and you’ll blow out your shocks.
should have just replaced them all at the same time John K
either your shocks are worn out, or with the new lowering springs- you factory shocks are meant to travel in a different range of motion instead of the lowered position. causing an uncomfortable ride and/or pre-mature wear. the best solution would be to get shocks that are meant for a lowered 01′ civic Patrick H
If you have struts from 01 they were already well past their prime before you put the coilovers on. Combined with the fact that OE struts are tuned to work with OE spring rates and you have a customer recipe for crappy handling. Good struts are far more important to vehicle stability, control and handling than springs are. If you are going to do stuff like this do it right and get good struts. Mark F
