You can add a remote start to your car… the factory lock has nothing to do with the start. While you may be able to do the job yourself, I recomend you have a good one put in by the pros., will be worth it. Have a remote start in 3 of my cars and had them put in several others. Took the pro 3 to 4 hours to do them and he does this type of job every day. LT

You can add a remote starter and have it work through your factory remote, but you’ll have much less range compared to using an after-market remote. Factory keyless-entry remotes just aren’t designed to work from long distances.

A common method of integrating a remote starter is to activate it with the door lock motor wires. You’d remote-start the vehicle by pressing the “lock” button on your factory remote two or three times.

Alternately, you can get a remote starter which includes lock/unlock outputs, so that the new remote can do everything your factory remote does (from a much greater distance). kaezoo

Remote start car alarm is just an extra feature you can buy from the aftermarket. There’s also just Remote Starts.
Basically combine what all 3 of us said, I know kaezoo really knows what hes talking about. You’ll lose range, if you want to use remote start from your factory remote.
These kindof things are if you buy them off the internet then you have to do them yourself unless you have a friend that’s in the business. Alot of audio shops won’t install stuff like car alarms, remote start, almost anything security unless bought from the store. I’ve found 900$ car alarms for 200$ on the internet. But hey, it’s do it yourself. sl0wm03
