do a fresh install of the os insert the disk that came with the computer and restart as soon as the computer starts to power on hold the option key a gray background with a disk image an hdd image should appear (if they do not and it boots to the login screen/goes to normal screen you did not start holding the option key soon enough try again) once you get to this screen select the disk icon and it should be straight forward to reinstall the os tmibbs89
